Introduction
Many years ago, people around the globe were living their lives without using any innovative products. They were able to live using things that are not technologically enhanced, nor using any automatic gadget; in short, normal society without technology. As years go by, scientists and inventors were able to find ways on how to make people’s lives easier and better. Nowadays, it is hard to think how people can live their lives in absence of technology. Students may find it hard to study and complete their courses without computers and internet. Transportation, food supplies, and even the government and its agencies depend on technology to sustain their primary goals. However, some people think that technology is also a way to influence society in being involved with its negative effects such as fraudulent acts over the internet and children’s accessibility to explicit contents of internet. We argue that internet technology, despite its critical effects, is still essential in modern society and people’s lives.

Internet Technology Advantage

Internet technology can be considered one of today’s basic needs as it is being used in numerous ways. People will not be able to communicate with their family, colleagues, and friends quicker if their mail will not be channeled over the internet. Millions of people including students, teachers, and business men are using electronic mail for the purpose of communicating about their personal and professional lives. The government of every country uses internet to protect their nation and their citizens and even strengthens their military forces by keeping sophisticated information that are secured online.
Way back many years ago, people would often go to libraries to search for specific information. Students usually visit libraries to do a research so as they would be able to complete their assignments and courses, but with the help of internet technology, they just have to type-in the keywords of the topic on the search engine and numerous results related to their search will show up on the computer screen; easier and faster than library research.
Being entertaining is one of the foremost reasons on why most people would use and search the internet. In fact, the entertainment industries were using internet for promotion and marketing purpose. The industry even uses it to update people about their idolized celebrities. Additionally, internet can be used to purchase music and movies that can be stored to your personal computers as for more entertainment value. People can also purchase their basic needs through internet sellers. Almost everything that people normally buy from a regular shop are available online, so people will not need to go out just to purchase a product as payment can also be made over the internet.
The internet technology is one of the main reasons why businesses and monetary flows can be easily managed. Businesses regardless of the industry are using internet to communicate with their business partners, stake holders and even customers over the internet. Their income would be routed electronically through internet, which will be credited to their bank account. Internet banking is a key for a faster and safer way to manage business profits hence would save a large amount of time and effort as the company’s representative will no longer travel to the bank to make transactions.
Social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites are very useful nowadays. We can say that millions of people from different walks of life have a social media account as it provides more enhanced ways of communication. Through these internet sites, people are not limited to a simple exchange of electronic mails. Social media lets people share their photos and videos, file attachments, and even make a clear video calling with your friends or colleagues. It was an extra special discovery that provides numerous advantages to people.

Besides the numerous advantages of internet, there are also many people who claim that internet can be a source of many disadvantages. For an instance, debates regarding the explicit contents that can be accessed by children when they search the internet have been the issue of many parents and moral advocates around the world. Internet is an open space for much information including websites that contain pornographic materials. These contents may harm children’s young minds as it could affect their emotional and behavioral actions.
Aside from explicit contents, internet can also be a way to fraudulently someone else’s money in the form of hacking. Many people have become victims of internet fraud as internet banking circulates people’s money as fast as stealing it by internet hackers. However, these disadvantages can be prevented using online-based applications that are continuously being developed.

Conclusion

It is true that the downside of the internet is happening and may continue as internet hackers are finding new ways to deal with their purpose. However, along with their tactics, vigilant information technologists are also doing their best to prevent these kinds of acts. In addition, internet provides numerous advantages to people and whether or not we admit, internet is an important part of our culture as it is one of the reasons why people are living in a new culture, a new way that improved our lives and the future generations.
