Good romeo and juliet essay example

Romeo and Juliet’s love story appeared to be heading towards the path of tragedy, as even at the prologue of the play speaks about the tragic ending to the tale of the star crossed lovers. But was their death all fate? Was their death simply an investable ending for a forbidden love? It can be argued that destiny decided on the tragic ending, but human folly aided fate in giving an end to the love story. Romeo and Juliet, undoubtedly, Shakespeare’s most well-known work deviates from the typical happily ever after conclusion of most love stories, as it taps the reality that not all love stories ends in a happy ending. The story weaves and portrays how both the inevitable and the characters own actions and decisions led to the death of the characters.
The story of Romeo and Juliet revolves around the theme of forbidden love. Romeo and Juliet belonging to two sides of a feuding family- the Capulet and Montague, fell in love with another despite the difficult circumstances they were face against. The first human error that aids their death is seen when both Romeo and Juliet did not listen to their parents and their parents not listening to them. The background of both Romeo and Juliet were not kept hidden in the story, both of them were at some point in the story that they belonging to two colliding groups but chose to defend their love. Their parents also played a role, because they did not put aside their differences for the sake of their children’s happiness, they opted to follow the status quo of their groups and pushed their children towards their own destruction.
Another human error that contributed to their death was the other characters building the situation that led to the death of both Romeo and Juliet. Romeo’s decision to kill Tybalt, for instance, was uncalled for he could have spared the bloodshed and prevented his exile and prevented Juliet from acquiring the Friar’s potion. The nurse, that did not speak of Romeo and Juliet’s wedding also contributed to their death. If the parents learned about the marriage of their children, they could have made a second thought regarding their stern disapproval of their love, although difficult, the parents could have eventually accepted their marriage. Another character that contributed to the death was Friar because of his inability to use his logic to salvage the lovers. He should have prevented the impulsive marriage between Romeo and Juliet from happening. Friar was even aware of the pace of the decision because he even said ” So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes”, Friar mentioned.
Aside from the other supporting characters helping to stage their death, Romeo and Juliet, themselves chose the path of their forbidden love. They made decision impulsive, for instance, their marriage after only knowing each other for twenty-four hours. Juliet deciding to drink the poison because she can no longer see her lover and Romeo acting out of blind rage to kill Tybalt that led to his banishment. But more importantly, it was the two of them who chose to fight for their love despite all the odds stock against them, they decided to attempt to break the norms of their society and hope for a favorable outcome for the two of them.
The ending of death showed the power of fate, how it can wound and destroy two people. The ending made the play unforgettable and unique because it shows how the character interaction all contributed to the ending of the story. Human error, no doubt, aided in the destruction of the lovers because of the characters’ decisions and impulses. The star crossed lovers, even at the beginning destined for destruction, chose to face their deaths amidst the forbidden love they had to face. The play showed the power and at times unforgiving capability of both destiny and human folly.
