Your full full October 30, My Opinion of Articles After analyzing the context of all three readings, I would say that all of them have been able to deliver a thorough and all-inclusive message regarding American education. The first reading, “ The Uses of the University” by Clark Kerr, was helpful for me in understanding the modern American research university and a comparison of the educational situations of 1963 and 2000. Moreover, the book also helps the readers in understanding the future challenges pertaining to American universities. Kerr has also used the word ‘ multiversity’, which refers to the variety of education being delivered in modern universities.
The second reading, “ The American College and University: A History” by Frederick Rudolph, was also a classic reading experience for me. This book helped me understand the actual concept of the American colleges and universities. I have gathered a lot of knowledge through this book. Considering the rich detail this book has regarding early years of American education and secondary educational system, I would recommend every person related to educational sector to read this book.
The third reading, “ Magnet Schools and the Pursuit of Racial Balance” by Ellen Goldring and Claire Smrekar, was another phenomenon reading experience. This article helps in understanding the concept of magnet schools and their impact on the efforts towards reducing racial segregation. The article is also a good source for understanding the racial imbalance issue thoroughly.
